Please note from the 1st June we no longer accept prescription requests over the phone, you can either post your request through the letter box outside the surgery or order online. If you do not have access to your online account please call reception and we will be more than happy to get this set up for you.
Major Oak Medical Practice
You may have some medication on your repeat prescription that you can request without seeing your Doctor for a set amount of issues.
You will need to come for medication reviews with GP or Practice Nurse before your repeat medication issues run out.
Following any changes in your condition, or changes of medication made by a hospital, please book an appointment to see a doctor.
A computer-generated slip is produced with each prescription issued. This is used to request your next prescription. Items you require should be ticked and handed in allowing 48hours or if posting send one week before your medication runs out. We request that you do not telephone for your repeat prescription as this blocks the telephone line preventing urgent calls getting through.
Your local Chemist may provide a collection service please ask them for details.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
Gluten Free Policy
If you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then it’s important to talk to your doctor about what this means. Ask him or her to refer you to a Registered Dietitian for advice on what you can and can’t eat. This policy applies to all patients. However, special cases will be considered on an individual patient basis. Where a patient’s GP considers that a patient would receive additional benefit from NHS treatment when compared to other patients with the same clinical condition, they will be able to refer into a central CCG panel for the case to be considered.
